In this form, expressionism was imbibed into non figurative paintings. Abstract expressionism became very popular with many of the American painters. They experimented with various theories of expression and shed a new light on abstract art paintings. Even today, there are many art schools in Newyork that practice and teach abstract expressionism. This gives the paintings a new outlook that is far from the works of the earlier abstract art works.
Portraying real life in an abstract manner has been widely acclaimed and criticized by many. Most of the budding painters find it easy to learn and connect with paintings done by noted painters and have adapted it to suit their thoughts.
